Amanda Brugel

Brugel is the sole Canadian participant in the Season 1 group. She was seen only on occasion. The actress has been a cast part of the cast ever since. Discussing her role, as well as any parallels to her personal life outside of the camera, Brugel was able to share her personal experiences with racist treatment to the "Marthas" by stating in part, "I use it, not only in her position within the home as Martha but in all aspects of her life as Martha, but I very much lean on race, and as I've said, past experiences in which it feels like I've been the victim for a variety of reasons, not just due to the color of my skin. My race hasn't caused me to be physically hurt through my entire life, but the verbal abuse I've experienced. All racial insults that feel as a real hit or even a painful blow to me, I can use on the set when someone says something that is sharp and stinging. "I have this experience almost throughout the show, since it feels like she is always being hit at least once during every scene."
