
Danica Sue Patrick is an American former professional racer. Danica Sue Patrick is among the most successful woman in American open-wheel racing time. The victory she won in Indy Japan 300 was her first victory. She quit high school with the permission of her parents in 1998, and moved to the United Kingdom to further her career. Patrick was a racer in Formula Vauxhall before moving to the United States in 2001 because of the lack of funding. In 2002, she raced in five Barber Dodge Pro Series races for Rahal Letterman Racing. Patrick raced in the Toyota Atlantic Series the following two years. She was third in the championship standings of the 2004 season. This was when she became the first woman to win a position in the series. She was the IndyCar Series rookie of the year in 2005, and won the Indianapolis 500. She saw improvement throughout the following two seasons, racing with Rahal Letterman Racing 2006, and later Andretti Green Racing 2007. Patrick was ranked sixth overall in the drivers standings in 2008 following her Japan win. She improved on this to earn fifth place the following season, which resulted in her finishing a record-breaking third in the Indianapolis 500, the best performance of any female at the race. Patrick's overall performance declined in 2010but she managed two-second-places at oval tracks before she left IndyCar after the 2011 season, focusing solely on stock car racing.
